BlackBerry 7
BlackBerry OS 7 is a smartphone operating system from Research in Motion( RIM) and was developed for the Blackberry series of cell phones from the same manufacturer. The BlackBerry OS 7 operating system was developed in the C++ programming language and features an improved web browser and a higher integration of the various communication media compared to its predecessor. Thus, all Facebook and Twitter messages, notifications, BBM notifications and emails are collected in a central inbox of BlackBerry OS 7.
Blackberry OS 7's web browser offers multiple tab browsing for flipping between multiple pages. According to the manufacturer, loading times are 40% shorter than the previous BlackBerry OS 6. The browser also loads HTML5 videos and supports JavaScript with an interface for running additional application programs.
Pre-installed apps and services include Blackberry Balance for separating work and private life, the mobile text program Documents-to-Go for viewing files from Microsoft Office, and Blackberry Messenger (BBM) for chatting and instant messaging( IM). Speech-to-text translations can be activated, files, mails or contacts can be searched for via voice input.
BlackBerry OS 7 supports Near Field Communication( NFC) to connect a BlackBerry with other NFC-enabled devices. BlackBerry Tag allows BBM contacts, documents, URLs, photos and other multimedia files to be shared wirelessly between two smartphones. After clicking an icon, photos and videos are uploaded to Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. If a BlackBerry smartphone is lost, BlackBerry Protect protects the user's contacts, messages, appointments and bookmarks by allowing the user to remotely delete stored data.
Blackberry OS 7 also gives users access to BBM Connected Apps in RIM's App World. As announced by RIM, Blackberry OS 7 is to be replaced by BlackBerry 10 based on the microkernel operating system QNX.
