communication (COM)

Communication is the understanding between humans, humans and machines or between machines. It is used for the one-way or two-way exchange of messages. If these messages occur in the form of speech, text, graphics or data, they are also referred to as telecommunications.

The prerequisites for communication are a sender who generates the messages, a transmission system for transmitting the messages, and a receiver who receives them. An essential component of communication is a common language of understanding.

One speaks of interactive communication when there is a mutual, active communication of all persons participating in a communication process

Open communication, as defined by Open Systems Interconnection( OSI), is when systems have implemented international rules and thus communicate with other systems that support the same standards.
