time triggered protocol SAE class A (TTP/A)

The TTP/A bus(Time Triggered Protocol SAE Class A) is a time-triggered sensor- actuator network for automotive technology, which is based on the TTP protocol and fulfills SAE Class "A", hence the designation TTP/A.

The TTP/A bus is characterized by the predictability of data transmission times, has a high data rate, is redundant, scalable and can use different transmission media and standard components. TTP/A, which provides communication at the field level, is a fieldbus protocol developed by the University of Vienna and introduced in 1995.

Like other fieldbuses, the TTP/A bus operates in master- slave mode with guaranteed response times. In total, a TTP/A bus can comprise up to 64 stations; each one is equipped with an Interface File System( IFS). All stations are connected to the TTP/A bus on an equal basis and read the data from the bus that is relevant to them. The send call is made by the master station.
