response (RSP)

Response, Response (RSP), is one of four primitives defined by the Open Systems Interconnection(OSI), also called service elements.

These service pr imitives are located between the service providers and the service user in the service model. The Response primitive is used by the service user to acknowledge a previously received indication of service. Other service primitives include request, indication, and confirmation.

The Response is the response to a Request, where a service user asks the service provider for a specific service. The service provider, for example a web server, sends the desired document, for example a web page, to the service user, the browser, with the response.
