teleteaching

Teleteaching is a transmission of teaching material to a wide audience. If the transmission takes place in real time, then it is a live transmission, which usually takes place via video conferencing systems. Such live transmission can access existing recordings and distribute them via streaming video over the web.

In traditional teleteaching, the transmission of lectures, tutorials and learning sessions was done through existing communication networks and also through television networks. It was a unidirectional transmission where only the subject matter was transmitted to the learners. Since classical teleteaching operated without a return channel, the auditorium could not interact directly with the knowledge content. Interaction could only take place in a time-delayed manner via other communication channels such as the telephone, e-mail or fax.

In modern teleteaching and telelearning with video conferencing systems, immediate interaction is ensured because the telelearning participants can interact directly in the chat or via e-mail.
