consumer electronics hypertext markup language (HbbTV) (CE-HTML)

Consumer Electronics HTML( CE-HTML) is a description language for consumer electronics user interfaces. CE-HTML was defined by the Consumer Electronics Association( CEA), it is an HTML derivative with special extensions for consumer electronics. A typical CE-HTML client is a Web browser running on the consumer device, such as a television.

Since consumer electronics devices differ significantly from personalcomputers in operation and display, the corresponding features have been compensated for by special HTML extensions. These include, for example, the fact that television images are viewed from a much greater distance than the displays of personal computers. Accordingly, the size of fonts, icons and graphics were adjusted in the CE HTML extensions. Remote control operation has also been taken into account, as has the fact that standardized audio and video codecs are used.
