redfish

Redfish is a data center and systems management standard maintained by the Distributed Management Task Force ( DMTF) industry association's Scalable Platforms Management Forum(SPMF).

Redfish is primarily suited for enterprise data center applications and management consoles to perform common administration tasks in networked server environments, including monitoring, configuration, telemetry and data access. Redfish follows the 1998 Intelligent Platform Management Interface( IPMI) as a remote management interface for servers and networked components and is designed to facilitate interoperability and administration of heterogeneous server environments. The Redfish specification separates the protocol from the data model and works with a RESTful API, a data model using the JavaScript Object Notation( JSON)and the HTTPSweb protocol.

Companies that have worked on Redfish from the beginning include Dell, Emerson Network Power, Hewlett Packard and Intel. The first results were presented during the Intel Developer Forum( IDF) in San Francisco in September 2014.
