new generation operations systems and software (NGOSS)

Although open source applications are more mature today than in the past, offer more functions, and are scalable and reliable, network operators generally do not use them. They prefer to rely on New Generation Operations Systems and Software (NGOSS) from the TM Forum(Telemanagement), which offers more planning security through standardization.

The NGOSS framework developed by the Telemanagement Forum supports standardized solutions for commercial, administrative and functional requirements and their implementation methods. The point is that different standardized applications need to exchange data with each other. For this purpose, the NGOSS framework provides interfaces between subtasks. It supports the identification and modeling of business requirements and specifies which functions are required to achieve value creation.

The NGOSS framework consists of four central frameworks, which are located in four superimposed levels. The top level describes is the process-oriented level for cross-enterprise business processes. It is implemented by the Enhanced Telecom Operations Map( eTOM). The level below for the shared information and data model represents the logical view of individual objects of the relevant telecommunications processes. It is formed by the Shared Information and Data Model.

The lowest level of the NGOSS framework is the application-oriented level with the Telecom Applications Map( TAM), which describes the interactions between applications. The integration level above, Technology Neutral Architecture( TNA), defines the system integration requirements.
