Identification is the verification of a person or object in relation to presented, uniquely identifying characteristics, the identity. This identity can beverified by means of unique characteristics corresponding to those of an ID card. Or also by means of passwords and stored reference passwords.
There are various media and procedures for identification; including chip cards, magnetic cards, smart cards and biometric procedures. In addition, bar codes, 2D codes, 3D codes, and radio frequency identification( RFID) are used in merchandise management for unique identification of goods. Biometric identification uses individual, body-specific features such as the fingerprint, the field of vision or the iris for identification.
