mobile entertainment terminal (PMP) (MET)
Mobile devices for mobile TV and players are very clearly differentiated between TV cell phones, portable media players( PMP) and mobile entertainment devices (MET).
TV phones are used for voice communications and can display television on a relatively small screen. Portable media players have a larger screen and can store and display television broadcasts. Mobile entertainment devices are combination devices consisting of a mobile TV and a portable media player.
A mobile entertainment terminal is characterized by portability, it must be able to receive and store TV broadcasts on the go, and its screen must be much larger than that of TV cell phones. METs can receive data via podcasting or vodcasting and have an analog TV input for composite video via which the mobile entertainment device can be used as a video recorder. Communication with a media server, set-top box or personal computer data should be possible so that data from vodcasts can also be transferred.
MET devices work with H.264 in video compression, some with Windows Media Video(WMV).
