media local bus (MediaLB)

For inter-chip communication, SMSC-Corp. has developed the MediaLocal Bus (MediaLB).

MediaLB is an open industry standard for multimedia networks and can also work with the MOST bus in automotive applications. MediaLB is a bus system for synchronous, serial communication on the printed circuit board, similar to the I2C bus. It is scalable and can be integrated and synchronized with the Most bus. Conceptually, it is a simple bus system with three or five lines. There are single and multiple MediaLB controllers and the data transfer rate is up to 1,024 frames per second.

MediaLB is integrated into graphics processors and thus supports the efficient transfer of multimedia data.
