IEEE 802.16e-2005
IEEE 802.16e-2005 defines mobile access to 802.16 broadband radio services. This standard is compatible with the stationary 802.16x versions, can be used in mobile terminals at driving speeds up to 120 km/h.
802.16e-2005 provides roaming and handover and addresses increased security requirements. The frequency range for mobile applications is 2.5 GHz, the channel width is 5 MHz, and the data rate is 15 Mbps. Modulation is with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access( OFDMA), which can operate with 128 to 2,048 carrier frequencies and for which the MIMO method is defined.
802.16e was adopted in 2005 and is used in Mobile-WiMAX for communication with mobile terminals. Inconjunction with Dedicated Short Range Communication( DSRC), 802.16e forms an interesting alternative for telematic and safety-related services in automotive technology.
