very high speed hardware description language (DoD) (VHDL)

Very High Speed Hardware Description Language (VHDL) is a hardware description language( HDL) according to the IEEE 1076 standard for the description and simulation ofdigital circuits with gates, logics, registers, arithmetic units etc.. The system-independent language standard VHDL works with event-driven time axis and can simulate circuits with many millions of logics.

The VHDL description of a circuit is usually used to simulate or synthesize the corresponding hardware. VDHL, unlike PALASM and ABEL, is used for complex digital circuits.

VHDL designs consist of individual design units, whereby a distinction is made between primary and secondary design units. The former define the extreme view or the interface of a VHDL module, while the latter describe the internal realization of the module. The primary design units include the module, package and configuration declarations, while the secondary design units include the architecture and package hulls.
