Among the security appliances, there is a category that performs only one specific task, these are the Specialized Security Appliances( SSA).

The SSA appliances include the firewalls, IDS systems and IPS systems, appliances that protect the VPNs, e-mails and the content, keep out the viruses and work as the URL filter for the Internet address, security gateway or instant messaging appliance. Each service has its own appliance category.
