Saint Rose

The next generation of Intel's Centrino chipset is called Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa processor is the P965, which operates with a Front Side Bus( FSB) of 800 MHz instead of the previous 667 MHz. The chipset and processor can be downclocked to reduce performance. The core is still the Merom, which operates at a maximum of 2.8 GHz and has an L2 cache of 4 megabytes( MB).

Intel relies on the Robson technology with a flash memory to increase the computing power. The Robson modules have memory capacities of 512 MB and 1 GB. Santa Rosa includes a WLAN module according to 802.11n.

In addition to the consumer version Santa Rosa, there is also the business platform, called Centrino Pro, which contains management firmware that allows companies to perform remote maintenance and system functions independently of the operating system.
