Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP)

Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) is an open source development platform for the World Wide Web(WWW), where Linux is the operating system, Apache is the web server, MySQL acts as a relational database management system and the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is used as an object-oriented scripting language.

LAMP forms the LAMP stack from the four functional layers mentioned, which can be built on different operating systems. The abbreviation LAMP remains even if the script language Perl or Python is used instead of PHP.

If the operating system Windows is used instead of Linux, the abbreviation LAMP changes to WAMP, for Mac OS to MAMP and for Solaris to SAMP.
