Internet name service

The Internet Name Service Protocol is a name service that converts a complicated IP address into a simple name.

Such name services, which also include the Domain Name System( DNS) or simple host tables, facilitate address handling.

The Internet Name Service protocol, which was published as early as 1979 in IEN 116, converts simple names into logical addresses and vice versa. As a transport protocol, IEN 116 uses the connectionless User Datagram Protocol( UDP). From the communication, the local computer sends a request to the name server using the simple name, such as ITKnowledge. The name server sends the logical address and the request in response. The IEN-116 protocol uses the logical name in dotted decimal notation for further communication.
