Deepfish

Deepfish was an experimental smartphone browser from Microsoft that went into beta testing in 2007 and was withdrawn in the fall of 2008. With Deepfish, which worked under Windows Mobile, an entire web page was calculated down to the display format of the smartphone and displayed in a special rendering.

With Deepfish, the desired area within the web page could be selected and enlarged via zooming. Deepfish was actually intended to show that entire web pages could be displayed on the small displays of smartphones and cell phones and enlarged using intuitive zooming technology. To prevent the loading times for complete web pages from becoming too long, only relevant image content was rendered at first.

Deepfish was discontinued because important features such as JavaScript, cookies, AxtiveX and others were not implemented.
