space communication protocol specification (Sat.-Kom.) (SCPS)

The Space Communication Protocol Specification (SCPS) is an IP protocol used in satellite links that takes into account the specific problems of satellite links, such as possible congestion situations, asymmetric channels, limited link capacities, high transit times, etc.

Under the Space Communication Protocol Specification, there are various protocol variants that improve reliability, error control, efficiency and performance in groundstation-satellitecommunications. Specifically, these are:

SCPS-FP: FTP extensions to improve efficiency and check data integrity.

SCPS-TP: Customizable sender-side options for the TCP protocol such as longer delay times and error rate.

SCPS-SP:Security protocol for space.

SCPS-NP: Proprietary network protocol that is not compatible with the IP protocol.
