panel antenna

Panel antennas are flat antennas with directional radiation characteristics. They are used indoors and outdoors in WLANs and for directional radio links.

The antenna interior is an antenna array consisting of a printed circuit on which individual patch antennas are formed by conductor paths. The outer, weatherproof protection is made of electromagnetically neutral plastic and protects the actual antenna against environmental influences and corrosion.

In the 2.4 GHz band, passive panel antennas have an antenna gain between 12 dBi and 18 dBi. Active antennas with built-in antenna amplifiers achieve about 10 dB more. The aperture angles are between 30° and 70°, depending on the design, and the impedance is 50 ohms.
