lands
The term lands occurs in CD technology and in printed circuit board technology.
- In CD technology, lands are the parts of the tracks of a compact disc (CD) or DVD that have not been burned by the laser. This part is also referred to as a flat and is raised in contrast to the pits. Important for the reproduction of data is the reflectivity of the lands, the Intensity Land( IL). This reflectivity is given as a percentage and is measured at several points on the CD surface.
- In PCB technology, lands are contact pads on which the bumps of the chips are bonded. They are also referred to as PCB lands. The arrangement of PCB pads for a chip is also called a land pattern. The traces of the lands lead to adjacent vias.
