key fob
Key fobs are key tags that contain security-relevant hardware components. Such key fobs allow owners to authenticate themselves and gain secure access to a network, a device, a motor vehicle or to data files.
Key Fobs belong to the group of security tokens, which also includes chip cards and PICC cards. The security hardware of the Key Fobs can be part of a Two-Factor Authentication( 2FA) or a Multifactor Authentication( MFA). This would be advantageous from a security point of view, but especially if a key fob is lost. The security hardware of key fobs can regularly generate random access codes that change periodically and are only valid for a short time.
