home infrastructure device (DLNA) (HID)

The Home Infrastructure Device (HID) is a product category for home networks specified by the Digital Living Network Alliance ( DLNA), through which the two other product categories, Home Network Devices( HND) and Mobile Handheld Devices( MHD), are interconnected.

The Home Infrastructure Device recognizes two product groups, the Mobile Network Connectivity Function (M-NCF) and the Media Interoperability Unit (MIU). While the Mobile Network Connectivity Function (M-NCF) handles the bridging between the Mobile Handheld Devices (MHD) and the Home Network Devices (HND), the Media Interoperability Unit (MIU) supports the content transfer between the required media formats for the products of the Home Network Devices and the Mobile Handheld Devices.
