generic loop port (GL_Port)

A port is a logical device interface with the with protocol. With Fibre Channel( FC), the FC ports have a special designation that expresses the functionality and are identified by an underscore.

The Generic Loop Port (GL_Port) can operate as an E_Port, F_Port or FL_Port. The GL_Port determines the operating mode on the port of the FC switch. It operates as FL_Port if an NL_Port attachment is present, as F_Port if an N_Port attachment is present and as E_Port if an E_Port attachment is determinative.
