node port (N_Port)

With Fibre Channel(FC), the FC ports are identified by the notation Name_Identifier. The various FC ports differ in terms of the scope of functions from the protocol at the interface.

A node port connects either an N_Port or an F_Port via a point-to-point connection. The N_Port supports the creation, detection and message flow to and from a fabric.
