extended digital audio broadcast (eDAB)

With the DAB variant Extended DigitalAudio Broadcast (eDAB), multimedia data is to be transmitted using IP protocol. For this purpose, Extended DAB relies on the Advanced Streaming Mode specified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute( ETSI), which is already used in DVB-H and uses an MPEG-2 transport stream as transport layer.

For video and audio compression, eDAB uses the same formats as under DVB-H, namely MPEG-4 and aacPlus.
