embedded security

The term embedded security is used in automotive engineering and describes the integration of security functions in electronic control units and on- board computers.

These security-relevant functions are to be seen in connection with possible manipulation of the data buses, since the bus systems used do not have any security functions. In addition, the protection of digital content and secure flashing must be mentioned in this context.

One approach to embedded security is cryptography with the public key method and the digital signature.
