electronic government (eGovernment)
E-government touches on all administrative aspects ofonline services between citizens and public authorities at all levels of government, from local to state to federal. The aim of these e-services is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the administration and to make it more citizen-friendly.
In addition to the exchange of data between citizens and the authorities, e-government also includes online communication between the authorities. The administration can communicate with a wide variety of people and companies: in government-to-government( G2G) with other administrations, in government-to-citizen( G2C) with citizens, and in government-to-business( G2B) with companies. These processes also take place in the opposite direction; namely as Citizen to Government( C2G) and Business to Government( B2G).
The basic prerequisite for online communication is security-related aspects such as maintaining confidentiality, integrity and authenticity. The legal prerequisites have been met with the Signature Act(SigG) and the digitalsignature; the technical prerequisites are provided by the OSCIprotocol standard.
The extensive range of services in e-government can be subdivided into many areas, such as e-voting, the online-based election process, e-administration with forms for the administration and e-democracy.
The e-administration subarea includes forms management, electronic tax returns, building applications, passport renewals and much more.
