In German, a doorway corresponds to a driveway. Doorway page or doorway domain means a special website that serves to increase traffic to another website.

Doorway or hallway pages are bridge pages that are optimized for specific keywords and have a better rank than the actual website. Doorway pages have few inbound links and outbound links. The visitor is usually redirected directly to the actual website without recognizing the doorway page. Better search results are achieved via this intermediate or bridge page, and the traffic generated by it is redirected to the actual website.

Doorway pages can be designed as substantial content pages with good content and high PageRank, from which the actual website benefits through the backlink. However, they are not entirely uncontroversial with search engine operators and can also be removed from their search indexes.

In addition to the term doorway page, the terms bridge page, intermediate page, jump page or preliminary page have also become established.
