classical IP over ATM (CLIP)

Classic IP is the oldest and simplest method for IP services and was defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force( IETF) in RFC 1577.

"Classical IP over ATM" offers a simple solution option to integrate ATM and Ethernet. As a pure layer 3 protocol, the IP protocol can be implemented directly over ATM after aligning the communication type and address structures. Thus, ATM can be used to connect local LAN segments with IP end stations and routers.
