TV cellphone
To meet the increasing mobility of users, various mobile devices have been developed for a wide range of applications. One that supports mobile TV or cell phone TV is the TV or TV cell phone.
This is a UMTS cell phone with an enlarged color display and extended reception facilities. The displays reach screen sizes of 7.5 cm and a resolution of Quarter VGA( QVGA). In addition to normal UMTS reception, TV cell phones also offer reception facilities for terrestrially transmitted digital TV. DVB-H and Digital Multimedia Broadcast( DMB) are special variants for handhelds.
The TV cell phone can thus receive Internet TV ( IPTV) at data rates of 3.6 Mbit/s via the UMTS data service High Speed Downlink Packet Access ( HSDPA) or digital TV via the terrestrial TV networks. In addition, TV cell phones can receive broadcasting and communicate with other cell phones via Bluetooth or WLAN.
As an alternative for mobile TV reception, the portable media players( PMP) have been developed, which have larger screens and work with a higher screen resolution.
