T tape drive
StorageTek's T tape drives are characterized by a short average access time, which is only 12 seconds. Likewise, the extremely short load and provisioning time of only 4 seconds is one of the outstanding features of the T-series.
Inefficient working times are not only reduced by these features, but also by the very fast data transfer. For example, the complete cartridge of the T9940C tape drive with a storage capacity of 40 GB can be read out within 22 minutes at a data transfer rate of 30 MB/s. The T9940C can also be used for other applications. The areas of application for the T-drives can be seen accordingly, namely in applications with fast data throughput and short recall times.
The T-series tape drives have interfaces for Fibre Channel Connection( FICON) and can thus bridge distances of up to 100 km. On the other hand, data with a transfer rate of 2 Gbit/s is made available for storage networks via the Fibre Channel interface.
