S Voice

"S Voice" is a technology from Samsung for voice processing on mobile end devices and is implemented as a voice-controlled user interface(VUI) in the Android devices from the same manufacturer.

S Voice is a standard installed application and can also be placed on the home screen of Samsung mobile devices. Pressing the home button twice activates S Voice and allows controlling the device with spoken inputs.

The voice inputs received by the smartphone 's microphone are transmitted via the Internet to an external server, where a sound analysis converts what is received into letters and words. No rigid command patterns need to be adhered to for the voice commands, because a voice recognition system filters distinctive keywords and activates the corresponding action for them. The spoken commands can be used to dial phone numbers in voice dialing or dictate messages in the short message service( SMS), search for contacts or create and retrieve notes and appointments. S Voice also answers questions about the time, date or weather and triggers a smartphone's camera.

Status updates on Facebook and Twitter are possible, as are spoken queries via the Google, Bing and Yahoo search engines, starting music playback, activating or deactivating alarms or connectity with WLANs and Bluetooth. The user can choose from several voices with which the end device responds, and all functions can be activated or deactivated individually.
