continuous-air long and medium range (automotive) (CALM)
Contimuous-Air Long and Medium Range(CALM) is a standardization project of the International Standards Organization( ISO) that aims to harmonize the different standardization approaches for DSRC and to develop a uniform global standard for wireless services in automotive technology.
Within the framework of CALM, wireless broadband technologies such as ultra-wideband (UWG) are being investigated, as is infrared communication via Infrared Data Association( IrDA). In addition, the mobile radio technologies General Packet Radio Service( GPRS) and UMTS play an essential role in the CALM concepts for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-road communication.
