LTE-Broadcast

Video transmissions put a strain on mobile networks. Currently, they are transmitted in unicast on a dedicated point-to-point connection as streaming video to the recipient's smartphone. This costs bandwidth and reduces the efficiency of mobile networks, especially when the same TV images are transmitted to thousands.

For this reason, people are turning to broadcast, and in the case of mobile communications, LTE broadcast. With this technology, all smartphones receive the same TV picture at the same time. There are two broadcast services for smartphones, DVB-H and DigitalMultimedia Broadcast( DMB), but they require a tuner in the smartphone. With LTE-Broadcast, this could be omitted. LTE broadcast, on the other hand, works with a fixed radio frequency that is assigned to an LTE broadcast transmitter. This technology has already been implemented in some smartphones. With this method, dedicated unicast connections are no longer required; LTE broadcast transmission, which can be used by any number of users, takes their place.
