IP traceback

A working group of the International Telecommunication Union( ITU) is addressing the issue of IP address traceback.

The ITU standardization proposal is a procedure to better protect networks against Denial of Services( DoS) and Distributed Denial of Services( DDoS) and to identify the attackers. The traceback procedure is called IP traceback and is based on the tracing of IP data packets. In addition to the dynamic assignment of IP addresses, it involves IP spoofing and tracing back the IP addresses across multiple domains.
