working group (WG)

In computer technology, a workgroup is a group of computers that are connected to each other via a network and work together as equals.

Such a workgroup characterizes teamwork, which uses groupware to promote group work in companies. It means that the employees of the workgroup perform workgroup computing on a common platform. Each individual can access resources, documents and databases and see the progress in the group project on the platform. Group work is supported by software vendors through special software.

Workgroups are used, among other things, in project-oriented tasks such as the development of software or elaboration of specifications and standards, in which the knowledge of individuals and the work performance of many flows into a project.
