Webmaster is a job title for those who have the overall responsibility for a website. They are responsible for the overall website project, its content and technology, its conception, design, marketing, administration and maintenance.

As those responsible for a website, webmasters are subject to all tasks related to the website. In small companies they perform these tasks with a few employees, in large companies with a team. These include web design and its implementation, administration and updating of the content management system( CMS), development and integration of web services, logins and user databases, blogs and discussion forums, e-business solutions and other e-services such as e-zines. Webmasters usually come from a computer science background and have experience in programming and description languages, database development and graphical user interfaces.
