simple network management protocol v3 (SNMPv3)

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMPv3) is largely based on SNMPv2 and offers modularity with standardized individual elements. It is characterized by its simplicity and, above all, its security and can be configured remotely. In the architecture of SNMPv3, the User-based Security Model (USM) is introduced, as well as the View-based Access Control Model (VACM). The SNMPv3 architecture supports the simultaneous operation of multiple security, access, and message processing models.

SNMPv3 is described as a draft standard in RFCs 2271 to 2275 and in RFC 3410.
