secure electronic marketplace for Europe (SEMPER)

Secure Electronic Marketplace for Europe (SEMPER) is a joint project of about 20 partners from industry and academia, started in 1995 and funded by the European Union. The goal was to lay the foundations for a comprehensive and generally available security architecture that can be used on the Internet and other public networks. One important aspect was the security of electronic transactions, taking into account the legal, commercial, social and technical aspects.
