rich media conferencing

The term rich media conferencing refers to the combined form of conferencing involving voice, video, data and graphics over digital networks.

Rich media conferencing is remote conferencing between remote communication partners via packet-oriented networks; with IP multicast via IP networks. Internet applications such as web conferencing, streaming media or instant messaging( IM) are also used in this context .

The prerequisites for rich media conferencing are broadband network accesses, such as those provided by DSL technology or other access technologies. In addition, a unified conferencing environment is required, such as that provided by a browser-based user interface through which the participant can access audio, video or other services. Rich media conferencing can take place between two or more participants in a group.
