real media (RM)

RealMedia is one of the most popular streaming technologies and was developed by Real Networks. RealMedia distinguishes between server-based and server-less streaming media in terms of distribution technology, whereby the transmission with server support offers better performance.

The presentation of the streams is done on the client side with the RealPlayer, whereby not only the most diverse proxy servers are activated, but also transport protocols such as the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol( RTSP) and the Realtime Transport Protocol( RTP) are supported. Various development tools such as the Real System Producer are available for content development. The Producer consists of the import module for source files, the session manager for encoding, and the encoding engine that converts streaming content into RealMedia content.
