plastic leaded chip carrier (chip design) (PLCC)
The PLCC (Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier) device is a plastic chip carrier and corresponds to the Quad Flat J-Lead( QFJ). It is square like the Quad Flat Package( QFP) and has downward curved J-shaped component leads.
The PLCC package's leads are on all four sides of the chip and are spaced 1/20 inch(1.27 mm) apart. PLCC packages are available with 18, 20, 22, 28, 32, 44, 68, 84 and 100 connections. The size of the PLCCs is square and has edge lengths of 8.8 mm, 11.4 mm, 16.5 mm, 19 mm, 24 mm and 29.2 mm.
The numbering of the connectors is counterclockwise (seen from above) and starts with the pin "1" at the mark in the middle of one side. PLCC sockets are available for surface mount SMT technology and also for mounting in breadboards. They are equipped with spring contacts and are resistant to shock and vibration loads. In addition, the PLCC package is also available with so-called J-leaded connections. In this version, the pins have the shape of the letter "J", and are bent outwards.
