numerical control (NC)

Numerical Control(NC) is a computer application for the control of machine tools and production machines.

The control techniques take into account all the data of the equipment, raw materials and tools required for production. The control is carried out via alphanumeric numeric codes, which the computer obtains from the data for the devices, tools and raw materials and forwards them as path and feed information, as rotational speed and switching information, to the control units for the drives and the peripheral components.

NC controls are standardized according to DIN 66025 and are used in machining operations such as drilling, cutting and milling.

There are programmable logic controllers( CNC) for automatically reproducible manufacturing.
