multicast address dynamic client allocation protocol (MADCAP)

The MADCAP protocol is used to automatically assign multicast addresses to network clients. It is used in the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ( DHCP) and supports client-side reservation requests for multicast addresses. In this procedure, a client that supports the MADCAP configuration requests the address from one or more servers.
