labelflash (LF)

Labelflash is a process licensed from NEC Corp. for labeling DVDs with laser beams, comparable to Lightscribe from Hewlett Packard. Like Lightscribe, Labelflash requires specially coated blanks, a special DVD burner and the appropriate software.

The Labelflash blanks, DVD-R and DVD+R, have a special color layer 0.6 mm below the surface coating of the label side, into which the laser beam can be burned. The labeling by the laser appears blue-metallic. The resolution of the exposure is 100 dpi, 256 brightness gradations can be displayed. The exposure process takes about 7 min.

Labelflash and Lightscribe are incompatible with each other.
