The National Electric Code (NEC) is a standard that regulates the use of electrical wiring and cables and their installation in buildings.
The NEC code was developed by the American National Standards Institute( ANSI) and is sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), therefore it is identified by both institutions and a year indicating the year of the latest revision: ANSI/NFPA 70-xxxx.
