Human Machine Interaction(HMI) is an interdisciplinary study of the interaction between humans and computers, Human Computer Interaction( HCI). It is about the design of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) and how people and computers interact with each other.

The various disciplines that contribute to human-machine interaction include work optimization, ergonomics, and areas of computer science such as programming and artificial intelligence.

The goal of human-machine interaction is to develop the optimal user interface. This interface should meet the requirements of the operator's mental, cognitive, and manual capabilities. An example of this is VR headsets where the interaction between human and machine is performed by head movements, head tracking. Users of VR headsets can stay in virtual and augmented reality by moving or turning their heads.
