global returnable asset identifier (EPC) (GRAI)

Global Returnable Asset Identifier (GRAI) is an Electronic Product Code(EPC) with which assets can be marked and identified.

This EPC identity, specified by the Uniform Code Council( UCC), is used to mark returned equipment, computers, peripherals and other products belonging to the asset so that they can still be identified after they have been returned. The EPC identity is the prerequisite for the identification and tracking of returned products.

The GRAI code consists of the four- digit Application Identifier with the number 8003, which serves as the identifier for the GRAI code, the company-specific prefix and the product type, called GS1 key, and the serial number.
