ergonimc lighting indicator (ELI)

Ergonomic Lighting Indicator (ELI) is an evaluation of lighting quality described in the European standardEN 12464. Lighting quality is an important factor in visual performance and thus lighting in offices, production halls, stadiums, convention centers, operating rooms, streets, parking lots, shop windows and in many other areas plays a decisive role that is directly related to the activity of people.

Lighting quality determines color rendering as well as over- illumination and shadow effects, too low or too high contrasts and too strong or low color saturations. It directly affects the physiological perception of the viewer.

High lighting quality is ensured when the brightness distribution of the lighting is uniform and balanced and the light sources do not exhibit different color temperatures, when daylight and artificial light have the same color temperature and thus complement each other, and when the artificial light does not flicker.
